I enjoy cartoon movies too much, specially Disney ones. I recently watched this movie, Zootopia, but before I tell you a little bit more about it I wanna tell you about something else. After watching this movie I kept thinking that maybe I needed to see all Disney movies again because I don’t think I understood them completely when I was a kid. I know I enjoyed them and of course I understood what they were about, but I’m not sure I really got the message or the lesson behind the story. Like when I was watching Zootopia I felt inspired by the message it has and I don’t think I would have gotten the message if I had seen this when I was 7. Do you know what I mean?
Anyway you have to see this movie! If you have kids take them to the movies, if you’re a kid yourself ask your parents to take you to the movies, if you are 15 go and see this movie, if you are 27 go and see this movie, if you are 40 go and see this movie, if you’re a 73 year old grandma go and see this movie. I don’t care how old you are,you have to go see this movie!! (You can tell I really liked it, right??).
The story takes place in this world, Zootopia, were all animals, preys and predators live in harmony and they all interact with each other. The main character is this bunny named Judy who ever since she was a kid has the dream of moving out of her little town, going to the big city and becoming a police officer. Which is something that no one, not even her parents believe possible since all officers are big scary animals and she is a little bunny. She finally makes her dream come true (I know I’m not spoiling anything because you can see this on the trailer) she moves to Zootopia and she has to work with a fox named Nick to solve a case.
I laughed a lot with this movie, specially with the sloths. I literally cried throughout the whole sloths scene because I was laughing so hard. I watched it in Spanish, but I’m pretty sure that it is equally funny in English. For me, it has a very powerful and important message of following your dreams no matter what people or society say about it and don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you can’t do something. And it also is a reflection of how the world works today and how we judge others based on the country they come from or their race and we don’t stop to think that being part of a culture doesn’t mean that we are all the same. (I had a hard time putting into words this last thought, but I hope you get what I mean with it).
So here’s the trailer, I’m posting both English and Spanish versions of it. If you live in the UK I believe the movie is called Zootropolis there (I wanted to make that clear, in case someone from the UK is reading this post). As always, please let me know if you watch it and what you think about it.
