I’ve been doing a lot of writing this week, not on the blog as you can obviously see. I’ve been writing on paper. Yes people! Taking a pen and writing actual words on a piece of paper with your hand is a really good thing to do every once in a while. I honestly started doing this because my sister gave me a pretty notebook as a Christmas present and I wasn’t using it. Well I was using it to decorate my house because it’s pretty cute, it has a quote on the cover that says “A GOAL WITHOUT A PLAN IS JUST A WISH” (yes, it’s the one from the picture!). It’s one of those things you have and you like them so much but you don’t wanna use them cause you wanna keep them looking pretty and new.
Anyway, the other day I got home and started writing on it. I can’t tell you I started writing something in particular, I was just doing it. It was like putting into words things that I didn’t even realise I was thinking and things that I didn’t know how to explain. It was cool to read what I had written, it was like I was talking to myself. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your thoughts? It happens to me because I tend to overthink and that’s no good. Sometimes I’d like to turn off my brain and say “hey brainy just give me 15 minutes of mental silence. Thank buddy!”. And I know I can get that silence by meditating, but I’ve been thinking a lot and very loud that I haven’t been able to meditate so I decided to write whatever came out.
I really really recommend you do this!! You don’t have to keep a journal or do it on a daily basis like a routine thing. But I say you should give it a try. You’d be surprised of what you feel while doing it and more surprised after reading it the next day. It can be very relaxing and liberating. For example, if you had a bad day and you don’t wanna talk about it but you also can’t stop thinking about it, just write it down, I promise it will help you let go of that feeling.
